Family Experience
Hear from families who have already started this journey
Adopting my 13-year-old son has been one of the most amazing and eye-opening experiences of my life. I heard from a former foster youth one time, “all it takes is for one determined adult to give a kid hope for their future”. I have watched my son go from not having hope for anything to the other day saying, “I think it finally hit, I care about my future and what I can do in life”. Some days, it is hard to consistently encourage through the hard moments but in the end, seeing him finally believe he is capable of a bright future has made all the hard times and tears worth it. Consistency and showing up for kids who have experienced so much hurt, and abandonment is the key to hope for them. Every day I promise him he can rely on me and that I’ll always be his biggest fan and slowly I have seen his walls come down and start to believe in himself. I’m humbled to have been chosen to be my son’s mom and it will be a role I handle with love and care!
